Ocean Wise Alum – 2019 Youth to Sea Cohort

Cary is an Ocean Bridge Alum from the YouthToSea 2019 cohort, where she had the opportunity to partake in many learning excursions about water chemistry, Indigenous land stewardship and craftsmanship, marine biology, and pollution. Through YouthToSea, she participated in YouthAThon with fellow members to discuss the dangers of plastic pollution in our oceans, and potential solutions to mitigate the problem. Being in YouthToSea was an amazing experience to foster essential life skills, connect with the oceans, and learn more about the importance of ocean conservation and protection. Her passions lie in health sciences, climate change, and education, where she wishes to pursue a profession that allows her to integrate all three into her career.

Ocean Wise is based in the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We work across Turtle Island and beyond, supporting Indigenous peoples in their vital work on ocean conservation and biodiversity whenever possible or as we are invited to.
