Overfishing

La surpêche est un problème mondial monumental. Notre travail consiste à donner aux consommateurs et aux entreprises les moyens de faire des choix responsables qui garantissent une exploitation durable des ressources.

Sustainable Seafood Program

Three billion people rely on seafood as an important source of protein. But 30% of the world's fish stocks are already overfished. The Ocean Wise Seafood label empowers us all to sustainable decisions — to ensure our own survival and that of marine habitats.

Small Scale Fisheries Work

Fishing is more than a way to catch food, it is a livelihood, a source of cultural identity and connection to the land. We're working with fishing communities to develop novel ways to assess the sustainability performance of small-scale fisheries, emphasizing the inclusion of traditional and community knowledge with Western science-based approaches.

Ocean Wise is based in the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We work across Turtle Island and beyond, supporting Indigenous peoples in their vital work on ocean conservation and biodiversity whenever possible or as we are invited to.
