Ocean Wise Ambassador – 2022 Ocean Bridge Cohort

A bit about me:

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology at Dalhousie University and recently completed my third year. In this demanding program I must work hard and be organized in order to stay on top of schoolwork and achieve high grades. My goal after receiving my B.Sc. is to further my education in a master’s program and work in marine conservation at a research level with the intention of protecting the ocean as an ecosystem, preventing further damage to the ocean’s and conducting research which would hopefully undo damage already done. In my spare time I am a freelance photographer and try to spend as much time as possible outdoors, be it camping or just sitting by the ocean.

What gets me out of bed in morning?

My passion in life is to pursue a Master’s Degree and a career in marine conservation at a research level with the intention of protecting marine ecosystems, preventing further damage to the world’s oceans, and conducting research which would hopefully undo the damage already done. I have an intense appreciation and love for the biological world and am particularly passionate about animal physiology and behavioral ecology. My passion and drive to gain knowledge is what keeps me pushing in hopes of protecting the global oceans.

A fun fact about me:

Marine biology is my calling in this life and is what brought me to Dalhousie University to further my studies, but before I came to that realization I was deadset on being a veterinarian. I was originally enrolled at the University of Guelph and had completed 2 years of their pre-veterinary program before realizing that what I thought was a passion for veterinary practices was actually my misdirected love for all living creatures on this planet.
