Book a Discovery Kit!

Discovery Kits are a free hands-on resource that teachers and educators can bring into their classrooms. Each borrowable kit will bring ocean education to the forefront of young minds. To accompany our kits, Ocean Wise offers free "Ask an Expert" Q&A sessions to take student knowledge deeper.

Discovery Kits are a hands-on resource that teachers and educators can borrow to bring into their classrooms. Each kit includes “climate 101” information and discussion questions as well as a variety of artifacts such as: replica skulls, books, and interactive games that captivate students’ imagination and interest in the ocean.

An information sheet is provided to guide educators through activities designed to spark your student’s curiosity about their role in protecting the ocean. Students also have the opportunity to meet one of our Ocean Wise Education team members virtually, so that they can pose their questions!

Borrowing a kit is completely free and includes free shipping and return shipping to anywhere within Canada. Kits are borrowable for five working days.

Dive deeper with an Ocean Wise expert

To dive deeper, Ocean Wise also offers free, optional 30 minute “Ask an Expert” sessions! As your class engages with the Discovery Kit, take note of questions that come up and join an expert Ocean Wise educator for a virtual Q&A session exclusively for your class. Sessions are available every Friday. Look for the “book an Ask an Expert” session when you request your kit.

Ocean Wise is based in the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We work across Turtle Island and beyond, supporting Indigenous peoples in their vital work on ocean conservation and biodiversity whenever possible or as we are invited to.
