Plastic is everywhere, including in our electronics. When a device breaks, it’s natural to want to buy a replacement right away. Before purchasing a new replacement gadget, ask yourself the following:

-Is my current setup under warranty?

-Can I repair or upgrade what I already have instead of buying brand new?

-Can I buy a refurbished product?

-Where do I take e-waste in my community?

These can help you determine whether you need a brand new device – or if there is a way to fix what you’ve got!

Mend, Lend, Don’t Spend: We’re talking about using what you have! Find creative ways to reuse an old item in a new way.

With this action in mind, take the Plastic Challenge!

Ocean Wise is based in the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We work across Turtle Island and beyond, supporting Indigenous peoples in their vital work on ocean conservation and biodiversity whenever possible or as we are invited to.
